Hello friend, today I want to share with you a way that I make quick and easy embellishments to put on my cards, journals, and tags etc. Basically what ever you are making you can pop these little embellishments on anything.
The items I have used is paper clips, scrap designer series paper, thick card stock weather it be an old cereal box or an old card that you have been given, I find old business cards really great for making these. Any stamps you have on your desk at the time, I have used Free as a Bird and Forever Fern and Tasteful touches from Stampin’ Up!. I have used a 2” circle punch, 1 1/2” circle punch and Stampin’ Up!s new rectangular postage stamp punch, and Tombow glue.
First punch out the shape you want out of your thick card stock, I have used an old greeting card.Next punch out two pieces of designer series paper, you can use the same paper or two different styles totally up to you. If the paper is double sided and I can get two punches out of it I usually just use the flip side of the paper.Next attach the back piece of DSP to one side of the thick card stock.Attaching the back piece of DSP to my thick card stock.Pop the paper clip over both the DSP and the thick card stock making sure you have the longest part of the paper clip on the outside of the back of your DSP.Next stamp the front of your DSP piece if you choose to do so. I have used the Forever Fern stamp set from Stampin’ Up! for this embellishment.Stamped my sentiment on the front.Attach the front stamped DSP to the front of your embellishment with Tombow glue making sure you apply enough glue to go over the paper clip.Next sponge around the edge to give it the vintage old worn look.Next attach it to your project or simply pop them in a box for when you need them.
I tend to sit and make several of these at a time and store them in a box to use when I am making my journals or need a quick embellishment for a card. I hope you have enjoyed my little tutorial on making embellishments, all the products I have used are list below or you can find them at my online store. Bec’s House Of Craft Online Store
Hi there Margie thanks for your question, the paper clip is there to make the embellishment a 3D embellishment. It’s also there because you can make a heap of theses with your scraps and have them just waiting to quickly add an embellishment to your project. Hope this answers your question, thanks for reading my blog posts. ☺️
Love them. Also great way to use up some scraps.
It is the best way to use up scraps and can be made into any shape too. 😀
Why do you keep the paperclip on?
