Breakfast with Bec…. Hey Chick

This week on Breakfast with Bec I started by showing you my new and improved craft studio. I have been super busy during the week up till midnight most nights, moving, building and re arranging furniture to make working, teaching and learning in the studio even easier than it was before. Check out these pictures of the new and improved craft studio.

This week I used the Hey Birthday Chick Bundle and the returning Hey Chick stamp set with the new matching dies.

I wanted to create a card that looked like the chickens were looking out of the hen house. I think I achieved this by stamping the All wired Up background stamp on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock in Early espresso ink. This created the chicked wire look on the outside of the chicken coop.

I then used the rectangular postage stamp punch to create the windows in the card front. I then repeated this step using a thinner piece of copy paper to create a mask that I could then use to stamp my chickens inside the hen house on another piece of Very Vanilla card stock that is going to be layered underneath the top layer of card stock that I previously stamped with the All wired Up background stamp.

I used my blender pens to give the chickens a bit of colour, and then attached a piece of designer series paper across the middle of the card layering this with some natural twine.

Stamping the Happy Birthday sentiment in Early Espresso ink onto one of the Rectangular postage stamp punches shapes that I punched out earlier. I made it smaller by using and post it note and sliding it into the punch and re-punching it again but this time smaller. The post it note is just so you can hold on to it as you slide it into the punch.

I added some die cut corn and little hen house on the front for some embellishments and I couldn’t resist using the little chick with the party hat on cracking out of his shell.
